HALLOWEEN....
I first celebrated Halloween at my school. When Halloween falls on a Friday, it is safe to say that you are going to have some hyped up middle school kids ALL day. All the middle school advisors had to succumb to their advisories and let them dress us up. My lovely advisory thought it would funny to dress me up as a Texas fan (they had just beaten my poor cowboys).
That evening, after Jess fought off a sudden vicious sickness, we put our costumes together (Juno and Paulie Bleaker) and hit the town with Katie Bond (St. Matt's new english teacher), her fiance, Guy, and some of their fellow Brits. Hanging out with a load of English people is quite the riot! We had dinner, drinks, and danced the night away. I sure did get a lot of funny looks dressed up as a pregnant teenager while sipping on my dirty martini!
THANKSGIVING....
I was out of school by noon on Tuesday, but Jess had been working on a Navy commercial the entire week before and did not get home until Wednesday at 5:00 pm. We were heading to San Francisco to spend Thanksgiving with Jess' mom, dad, aunt, uncle, aunt's mom and step dad, and his 4 little cousins. Needless to say 5 pm the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is not the best time to try to leave LA. It is usually a 6 hour drive to San Fran, we went 50 miles in 5 hours!!!! It was stop and go traffic and sucked. We ended up getting a hotel at 3 in the morning when we still had 2 hours to go to San Fran. We got to Jess' uncle house around 11 am on Thanksgiving and he and his wife had been slaving in the kitchen for days. We played with the kids and basically were catered to with delicious wine and food. We watched the poor cowboys get beat by Gonzaga,, and then went into the city with Jess' parents. We went to our favorite bar in the city, The Gold Dust, where the same 3 piece band plays 7 nights a week.
The next day we did some walking around in Union Square. It was PACKED with Christmas shoppers. We bid farewell to Jim and Janet as they started their LONG journey back to Oklahoma. Jess and I decided to look for something artsy for our new apartment (see new apartment blog). We headed to Haight/Ashbury district for prices that were better aligned with our budget...sorry union square! We had lunch on Haight Street and peeked our heads into some shops. Our LA friend, Ryan, was also in town for the holiday, and he met up with us and took us to his favorite bar, Magnolia, for some tasty brews. It reminded me a lot of my favorite place, Mountain Sun in Boulder. We ended up staying there for 3 hours! We love Ryan =) We ended up buying a cool tapestry for our new record player room =)
The drive home was only 5 and a half hours! thank goodness! We got to spend all day yesterday relaxing and watching football. Yay Jayhawks....poor cowboys.
Back to work tomorrow for 3 weeks before Christmas! 3 weeks until Oklahoma!

I said to Grayson "you should be a model!" (he was giving me his best poses) and he said "I know, I've been practicing"
Ryan showed us the house that The Grateful Dead lived in during the 70's. But he couldn't remember if it was this one.....
.....or this one!
The bartender invented this drink for me. It tasted just like mint chocolate chip ice cream!
There is a huge christmas tree behind us. Just not lit up yet =(
