We had a great Halloween! Breckin has had her George costume for months (someone gave it to us b/c they knew she loved George so much). I brought it out of the closet a few weeks ago when we were talking about Halloween, and she insisted on wearing it that day…all day…on one of the hottest days of the year! She kept asking to go trick or treating, and we had to explain to her that it was illegal to knock on people's doors and ask for candy unless it was on Halloween. It is crazy how much she comprehends about Halloween at 2 years old!
Our first official celebration was on Friday at her school. They hosted a Halloween "parade" and we had a cake and other goodies and the kids played a bit.
trying to get a bunch of 2-3 year olds to march out in a line was not working out so well!
Breckin was excited to get a bag of goodies. scratch and sniff stickers, a stamp, and play doh!
one of the parents made this skull cake. B was pumped and was the only kid that kept asking for more cake and cupcakes.
That is Mina to her right. She is the oldest in the class at 3.5. B looks super excited in this pic.
It was another 90 degree day so Wilder took his costume off and they played for a bit before we headed to the Discovery Cube Museum (post on that later)
Halloween morning was Saturday, and we got Daddy home all day! He made us Scary Face Pancakes for breakfast. yum!
We watched the cowboys take down the Red Raiders in a crazy game! 8-0 baby!
After the game we got our costumes on and took some family pics.
The Man in the Yellow Hat, George, Hundley, and Professor Wiseman
We had to do the step pic, but the lighting was pretty bad.
Our first stop trick or treating was our friend Dana's house, where she was live streaming the Widespread Panic show. We stayed for a cocktail and watched a bit of the show all while trying to convince Breckin not to eat all of Dana's candy.
We headed back to our house to meet up with the Hinton's (wilder) and headed down our street for a few blocks of trick or treating.
Almost every house on our street participated and there were crowds of people dressed up. I hadn't realized how long it had been since I've actually been trick or treating and it was a BLAST! Breckin and Wilder knew exactly what to do somehow. They knocked on the door, said trick or treat, Happy Halloween, and thank you like they were old pros.
They would hold hands and take of running to the next house. They were having so much fun!
After a couple of blocks, we headed back home to see how we did. Breckin killed it! She got that caramel apple sucker at one of the first houses we went to and was so pumped about it. We could have quit right then. She refused to put it in her candy bag and held it in her hand for the rest of the evening. She could not wait to get back home to eat it!
She is a sucker kind of gal. She is double fisting a caramel apple pop and blow pop here. We let the kids eat a few candies, the pregnant moms had a bunch of candy, the dads had a few beers, and ended the night with a ballerina dance party (with both kids in ballet outfits)
A close up of Hundley the dog.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
