Easter Morning:
We woke up early and found Easter baskets from the Easter bunny. B was super excited about her binoculars, bow and arrows, dinosaur egg, bunny teeth lollipop, yoyo, and other goodies.
The Easter Bunny also hid some eggs in the backyard with some special chocolates and gummies inside. B had fun hunting for the eggs with her "bi-nack-ulars"
We then loaded up the car to head up to the central coast for a camping trip at San Simeon State Park!
B insisted on having her easter basket on her lap.
And we are off! Jude is back there too!

We knew the 4.5 hour drive would end up taking longer. So, we had no expectations of the drive and just stopped when we needed to. Our first stop was in Ventura for some delicious fish and chips and some beach time.
"binoculars"
back in the car for some more coastal driving. Beautiful yellow wildflowers covering the hills north of malibu. Lovely.
We stopped in Morro Bay, home of Morro Rock. The day after we were here, a man was rescued by helicopter after climbing to the top and proposing to his girlfriend, he got stuck. Haha.
It was SUPER cold and SUPER windy so we didn't stay long
B DID NOT LIKE the cold and wind.
We arrived to the campsite around dinner time. We set up camp. Built a fire. Snuggled up and made sausages and S'mores for dinner. The first night and day were spent trying to stay warm and out of the wind.
We got to play around the campsite a bit when the sun finally came out on Monday. B played with her Easter basket toys and we submerged the dino egg in water so we could watch it hatch. We went into the close town of Cambria for a delicious lunch inside. It is a very cute town that we normally would have loved to walk around, but it was just so cold and windy that we headed back to the campsite to try and stay warm.
The rabbit teeth lollipop from the easter bunny was a hit.

look at that form!
On Easter evening, we roasted peeps over the fire and it felt wrong. But they were delicious!
We snuggled up in the mornings and ate cinnamon rolls and daddy cooked breakfast.
We had some good hammock time.
I had to dress my kids up for an Easter photo shoot, please indulge me:
Going to pee behind the tent. haha
Trying to find the boardwalk to the beach.
found it!
So much driftwood! I collected so many cool pieces to make some cool wall hangings.
A driftwood house that people are continually adding to.
an amazing driftwood house
gorgeous day
getting brave
We headed out Tuesday afternoon. We swung by to see the elephant seals, but both kids were asleep in the car! I got out to take a look! They are so big and so many!
Crazy to watch them swimming in from the sea. This looked like a mama coming in and a baby heading out.
Anderson's Pea Soup. This is a landmark in California. We have passed it 100 times and finally decided we should stop. We made it around dinner time which worked out perfect.

A couple of more months and brother could have tried some. It was basically baby food!
Always being SuperDad. Love these 3.
We made it home without too much fuss, and we are so happy to have Jude's first camping trip under our belt. It was a success!
