5 Month Letter

 Dear Jude Man,
Another month come and gone in a flash.  I just can't believe how fast it is going.  I am really loving you in this baby stage.  You are sweet and oh so cuddly.  You have a jelly to your belly that is the perfect kind of squishy.  You have rolls on rolls on rolls.  You have the stockiest little legs and a little bit of a ghetto booty.  Your cheeks are so chubby, and you have the cutest dimple on your left cheek. You are wearing mostly 9 month clothes. You make so many different expressions with your mouth.  It really looks like you are modeling for me when I take your picture because you give me a different look with each shot.  It is so funny.  You LOVE to smile and pose for the camera.  You continue to be a smiley baby.  You have started to laugh so much!  You think your sister is the funniest person on the planet.  She can get you really going.  Peek-a-boo is your favorite. Or we play "get that sissy!"

Your hair is still super blonde and so are your eyebrows.  Your eyelashes are darkening up a little and getting long! Your eyes are still a beautiful blue. You have started to fall into the 9, 12, 3 nap schedule, and we have started to put you in your crib for your naps (if we are home) and we will put you in there at bedtime too, around 6:30/7.  I rock and nurse you in the rocking chair in the room you share with your sister.  You fall asleep pretty quickly, and you also let me know when you are done nursing by letting go and snuggling on my shoulder.  You let me lay you down in your crib with no fuss and without waking up...I hope this habit continues!  You'll usually go until around midnight with an occasional short wake up in between.  Then we bring you back to bed with us and you are good until 3:30, then you wake up at 6 for the day!

We have done some fun things this month.  You went to your first Dodgers game and stayed awake the whole time! We went out to eat at a few restaurants.  We went to a few playdates.  We went to a few parties (Wilderstock, Dana's house, Charbs house...). We celebrated your first Mother's Day. You made me breakfast in bed, then we went to the park, lunch, and Santa Monica Beach.  An awesome day. Pat and Jenny visited from OK and got to meet you. We have also been attending a Mediation Moms group every wednesday.

You are definitely a wiggly worm these days.  When we lay you on your back you immediately flip to your front and then complain about it (even though you can flip back the other way...you rarely will do it).  Your body parts are constantly flapping around because you haven't quite learned how to control your movements.  You rarely sit still in our laps.  You want us to help you stand up on your legs or lift you up above our heads.  You love a change of scenery.  I'll spice things up by going to the backyard or taking you for a walk.  We have started to walk to the park a lot more.  You will be in the stroller with Breckin on the attachment skateboard on the walk to the park, then after the park, you fall asleep in the Ergo and B falls asleep in your stroller.  Your not crying as much in the car.  It will usually lull you to sleep.

You have found your feet and like to put them in your mouth.  You are constantly wanting to chew on things, drooling and will have moments throughout the day when you yelp out in pain.  These are signs of teething but no teeth yet!  You want anything that we are holding:  the remote, coffee mug, phone, water cup...Before this month, you would wake up each morning with quiet, sweet grunts. (you also constantly sounded like a zombie which I forgot to mention until now...we think it has something to do with binge watching The Walking Dead while you were in bed with us. I think you are out of the zombie stage now).  These days, you are discovering and exercising your voice and right when you wake up in the morning is your favorite time to do this.  You can get loud! Plus, you wake up kicking your legs repeatedly, so all of our days start early!

You are a flirt and bashfully flash your smile to all you meet.  You are grabbing everything and love to grab and chew your toys.  Bubba Leon is so in love with you.  He would kiss you all day long if we let him.

You are an official bumbo sitter now!

You had your first swing at the park!  You loved it!

You love, love, love your daddy.  You like to pull his beard in for furry kisses.

You, me and daddy went on a sushi one night with friends.  You looked so dapper!
You are nothing but sunshine, my sweet boy.  I have felt like you have become my little boyfriend this month, and I have such a crush on you.  I love you so much.  You are my favorite little man.

Love,
Mama
