12 Month Letter

Dear Jude,
One Year!  We did it!  You are officially a toddler on the run!  You love to jump, climb, walk, run, spin, dance, and anything else that has us all chasing you around trying to keep up.  Since you are always on the move, your baby chunk has melted away and you are long and lean.  We call you our boy of extreme emotions because you are either flirting, snuggling, laughing and flashing your famous smile OR you are intensely needy and sensitive.  You wear your heart on your sleeve and we love you for it.

Your eyes are still a beautiful blue and your hair is blonde. It's growing pretty fast and your tuft in the back is getting crazier and crazier.  It ends up in dreadlocks no matter how much we condition it!

You give the BEST kisses.  and they are open mouth of course.  You will get on a roll sometimes and smother us in kisses and we have to stop you!  You give us hugs and pats too.  You went through a phase of head butting and hitting to wake us up, but now you will wake us up with sweet arm strokes or pats (unless you are crying).  You blow kisses to say bye bye and night night.  You can say mama, dada, and yeah.  You shake your head yes and no.

You are a big eater!  You love strawberries, bananas, fruit cookies, meat, pasta, french fries, beans, eggs, and pretty much anything we put in front of you!  You still love your milkies too.  You still have 8 teeth that keep getting more prominent by the day.

You love the park these days.  You will swing and play in the sand.  You have climbed on the play structure a couple of times.  You like to play with anything your sister is playing with.  Sometimes she will play with you, but sibling rivalry has definitely started.  She will scream and yell at you, and I play a lot of defense throughout the day.  When you are playing nicely together, it is the best feeling to watch you guys get to know each other and love on each other.

your first Thanksgiving at the Charbonnets

You love to be outside and explore. It has been a wet winter in California, so you have been playing in the mud quite a bit!

You wore "real" shoes (with soles) for the first time!

We did lots of celebrating this month for Christmas!

You are crying much less on car rides and I think you even look forward to them sometimes.  As long as I get you out of the house for a "daily adventure" you are happy to flash your smile and take in all the new sights.

You have been extra attentive to Leon lately.  We say "just a couple of dudes being bros" a lot.

I can't believe my baby boy is ONE!  I am so proud of my little man.  I can't wait to see what the next year brings us.
Love, Mama
