Happy and Nana were able to take advantage of the "Hani Apartment Deal" and stay for 3 weeks just down the street. They drove with Bella and landed in Venice on a Saturday. We went to lunch at On the Waterfront and then hit the beach/boardwalk.
ice cream!
The next day was Easter. I did a whole post on that.
Jess was "down" from work, so Janet took the kids on Monday and we got to have a DAY date! We drove down to Hermosa Beach for some breakfast burritos that just happened to be across from the Lighthouse jazz club from La La Land!
We walked down the Hermosa Pier and drank coffee. What?!
Then we went and got IKEA'd to finish our kitchen upgrade
Nana got to come to dance class!
Lots of fun meals out! Happy was working a whole, whole lot.
A day at the Tar Pits museum. 10 years in LA and this was our first!
Jude was running around pointing at everything! He loved it
Breck got to play Paleontologist. Just like Dr. Wiseman
Nana took us all out to eat and shopping one day! We were spoiled!
Jess and I stole away for a dinner date at the fancy Cheesecake Factory
Nana took the kids one day and I got a massage and ate lunch by myself!
Uncle clint drove over to spoil us with lunch at Superba.
We took off to Catalina for the day one Saturday.
We took the Catalina Express boat. An adventure in itself!
both kids fell asleep on the ride over.
It took B a minute to warm up to the island vibes. A little ice cream with sprinkles helped
rocky beach play
Jess and I stole away for a beer and oysters
We hit up some mexican food before heading back for the evening. Great day!
Sunday was filled with more adventure as we headed up to Santa Barbara with this crew for the Willie Nelson Concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl!
We stopped at our favorite fish shack on the PCH north of Malibu called Neptunes Net. I forgot that on Sundays it is PACKED with the bikers! We still managed to find a table, eat our fish and watch/listen to the crazy bikers.
We fueled up on coffee and cake pops and walked around Santa Barbara for a bit
stopped to play Giant Jenga and corn hole. B was making friends with all the older college kids.
Then we headed to the Santa Barbara Bowl for the 6 pm show. We went straight to the top to get this awesome view first. Mountains, Ocean, Channel Islands.
Marin Morris was the opener and she was great! The kids were listening and dancing and making friends with everyone around us.
Both kids fell asleep early on in Willie. He was great! 84 years old and can still play. There were some off moments but I was mostly impressed. His sister still plays piano for him and he still has the original harmonica player too.
We went to the Venice Beach park with Nana.
We squeezed in one more date at PONO
Jess even drove us up to a hilltop for a romantic view of the city.
We hit Maxwells before Happy and Nana hit the road. What a visit!! Can't wait for the next one!
