14 Month Letter

Hey Jude,
And just like that...another month gone by!  You are such a fun boy.  You are able to interact with people more and more and you are such a social butterfly!  You have only had a couple of shy moments ever.  You love to make eye contact with people and flash your famous smile.  You are just the sweetest.
This is you flirting across the way on our Mommy/Son date at the Habit.  You learned to dip your fries into ketchup on this date too.  French fries are a favorite of yours as well as noodles, fruit bars, bananas, goldfish, peanut butter, beans, bread and any sweet treat you can get your hands on.  You love to drink water and you have mastered pretty much all sippy cups but when you drink out of a straw you spit it back out for some reason.  We have given you the occasional goat's milk to substitute for mama's milk from time to time and you seem to like it.  You are a good eater and a growing boy.

This is your sister's stormtrooper toothbrush that you have started to use as well.  You love to do everything your sister does.  Maybe it is time we get you your own toothbrush! You love bath time with your sister (we get in about 2-3 baths a week these days...if you're lucky!).  You insist that I wrap you up in your hooded ducky/frog/monkey towel and dance with you in the mirror after each bath.  Then it is off to bed.  You are usually still sleeping in the "family bed" every night, but since you are no longer nursing at night, I don't mind cuddling you through the night and waking up to your snuggles each morning.  You are up around 6:30 every morning ready to get your nursing session in before you join your sister in the living room for some playing and cereal.

We have had lots of rainy days this month.  This means lots of cartoons, movies and indoor time. You and your sis are playing more and more together.  Your favorite game with your sister is to chase each other back and forth through the house screaming with delight.  You also like to climb up on the ottoman and the back of the couch together.  Your sister likes to snatch you up and carry you around by the armpits a lot, and you are not a fan of this.

This is the day of the Women's March in LA.  My friend knitted me the "pussy hat" to wear, but it looked way cuter on you.

I love how you are looking at your sis here.  You look to her for so much.  I love it.

Do the diaper head dance!

You have taken a more consistent daily nap around 10 every day.  You have even passed out on the couch a couple of times!

We have continued our Meditation for Mamas class on Tuesdays. You love the special time with friends and having your mama's attention when B is at school.  We hiked Temescal this month and I took you to the school where I was a teacher and introduced you to my 'ol teacher pals!

We got to the beach on one of the few sunny days this month.

This is a picture of a tourist taking a pic of you, B and daddy.  So funny!

beach nap

We bike trailered to the beach for the first time.  success!

You have had more quiet, solo play times where I catch you drawing or looking at a book.

at Juno's first birthday

Much more into books!

We had an impromptu picnic at the boardwalk one day before some park time.

Venice Kids

Your favorite hiding spot.

Your hair!  It is getting long and out of control.  Your back puff is constantly dreaded and I put it in a ponytail "man bun" for the first time!

We celebrated mommy's 34th birthday this month!

Watching Toy Story.  It has been a hit during the rain.

Always a help at the grocery store.

You are looking more and more like a kid!

You insisted on wearing sister's ballet dress and you two gave me quite a performance!

You are definitely more active at the park these days.  You run amuck and want to try everything.  You favor the swings and fly down the slides without hesitation.  You kick balls around and school the older kids in soccer (seriously).  Other parents are shocked with I tell them you're only 14 months old.  You are so agile.

How big is Jude??

lunch date with daddy in Burbank.

We celebrated Valentine's this month with a donut date before school.

We finally scheduled your 1 year check up.  Clean bill of health and growing!
22 pounds 14 ounces
18.5 in. head
31.5 inches tall

You two are the best of friends at times!

You have been a trooper this month while I was trying to get a little wall hanging business off the ground.  We celebrated our first 100 "followers" with...what else...donuts =)

You are spanking B's bottom while you both shriek with laughter...silly kids. You are a silly boy who loves to laugh and you think your sister is the funniest.

Another cozy day inside while the rains came down.  We are headed out of this drought I hope!

You are sweet boy, Jude.  You give the BEST kisses and squeeze so tight with your hugs.  You immediately blow kisses when it is time to say goodbye or go night night. You have the ability to make people feel so special. I feel so lucky that I get to be the mommy who is smothered by your sweet, slobbery, open mouth kisses on the daily.
