July 11-12: Cedar Point, North Carolina

Day 1:
Most of our 5 hour drive to our next destination was along the South Carolina and North Carolina coasts (called the Crystal Coast in NC near where we camped).  We stopped in Myrtle Beach, SC for...wait for it...yet another pulled pork sandwich.  They do it right around here!  The scenery was beautiful.  It is very different from the west coast as there are many rivers and inlets that make for a lot of shore line where people can build a house and a dock right on the water.
Storms from both the north and the south were chasing us and finally converged when we arrived to the campsite.  It was pouring down rain, but we managed to get the tent up with the help of a Boy Scout Leader camping next to us.  We used towels to dry off the inside and managed to get a few beers in the tent.  We finished off some left over fried chicken (from Jess’s breakfast) for dinner ,drank beer, read our books, and listened to the rainstorm until we went to sleep.

Day 2:
We got up around 8:00 and decided to not drag out our kitchen equipment.  We packed up, explored the campground a bit, and headed up the coast a ways to Beaumont, NC to eat at the Beaumont Cafe. Jess had the best biscuits and gravy he has ever had outside from Lane’s.
