Oklahoma! Part 1: Edmond and Tulsa

Jess wrote this one!:
We landed in OKC around midnight. Nana and Happy picked us up. They say they don't mind, but we know they are getting tired of us always getting in so late. Breckin did really well on the flight. We even got a few compliments from other passengers. When we got to the Mathe's house, Lauren was asleep. We went straight back to her bedroom and woke her up so Breckin could meet her aunt Erlin. (That is what I called my sister when I was young. It was my 2 year old attempt at Lauren.) Uncle Eric was away taking some classes.  After lots of hugs and kisses we all hit the hay.

The next morning was football Saturday with the Royall/Mathe clan.  Nana cooked breakfast. She cooked breakfast just about every morning of the trip so I will mention it now and we can all just know that it happened every day from here on out. We made sandwiches for lunch and watched the Jayhawks actually win a game on a last second 52 yard field goal. OSU had a bye week so we routed for the underdogs for the rest of the day.  That night we went to the wedding of some of our best friends Jared and Brittany Schwennesen.  Their wedding was perfect. It was 5 minutes long. Everyone looked really nice. Brittany had a blush colored dress that was mermaid fit. (Jess had left blanks where the underlined words are and wanted me to go back and fill them in. ha!)   she had some really flashy converse allstars for her shoes.  The reception was a great dance party and it was good to see everyone. It was a mini high school reunion for me. We left Breckin with Nana, Happy, and Erlin for the night.  They did a great job babysitting and we were able to dance the night away. On Sunday we lazied around the house and watched some NFL.  Eric got home Sunday in the evening and we all got to have dinner together.

On Monday Happy, Nana, Lane, Breckin and I loaded up and headed to Grandma Freda's house in Arcadia, Ok.  We ate lunch on the back deck. Nana and Happy headed back to Edmond for the night.  Just as they left Lauren, Ben, Des, and Genevieve showed up and gave us lots of hugs. They were all so excited to see Breckin. And us. I went and picked us up some burgers at a local place called POP's. They have lots of pop. Good Burgers too. if you are ever on route 66 in Arcadia, you should go. We played red light green light in the yard till the sun went down and that night we all watched Monday Night Football till bedtime.

We headed back to the Mathe's place the following day. Happy had to go back to Houston on Tuesday for work.  The following couple of day we stayed close to home.  We watched Shark Tank and some Dateline Murder Mysteries, took long walks around the neighborhood. The Mathe's house is right off of a green belt. It used to be a golf course and now it is just the cart path and lots of open space, trees and a little creek.  We made dinners at home and drank wine on the back porch. It was relaxing.

On Thursday, Nana, Lane, Breckin and I drove to Tulsa.  When we got there we went to Coney Islander first thing. I mean, first things first. After that Everyone we know in Tulsa came over. Family and friends all stopped by to meet Breckin. We felt really loved by all of our Tulsa family. Nana made chili and we all hung out for the rest of the evening. The next day we had breakfast at BBD. Brookside By Day. It's on Brookside. After breakfast we headed downtown to do a little shopping. We got Breckin some sweet moccasins (as seen in previous posts)  I got us some local vinyl and a sweet coffee mug. We also got Breckin a dream catcher. We got one for our house sitter Kelli as well. She stayed at our house and watched Leon for us the whole time we were gone.  We drove back to Edmond that night, watched some murder mysteries and called it a night.

That weekend was more family time. We stayed mostly at the Mathe's enjoying our time together. Kendra and Meston both stopped by on separate occasions. We watched the Cowboys lose and the Jayhawks lose.  We stopped by Pat and Jenny's new place in OKC. Then, the week was over and it was time for me to go home. Nana, Lane, and Breckin dropped me off. I hate telling them goodbye.  It was a sad day until I was eating int the Denver airport and one of my frat bros ended up being my waiter. He bought my beer and lunch. Turned the day around.

It was a great trip!  We love family!!
