*Got up at 5:30 from and hit the road from Mill Valley.
*MORE FIRES!!! MORE DETOURS!!!
*Finally get there around 12:30.
*bummed because we have to camp in a horse coral with no shade. Horse poop. literally.
*Have a horrible time setting up camp. So HOT. and really windy. We were mean to our neighbors. (who were soon to become our best friends)
*Finally are set up with a tarp jerry rigged for a little shade. Jess goes over to apologize to our neighbors, Trent and Dave. We are unseparable for the rest of the festival.
*Thursday night show: Built to Spill. They were big in the 90's, and they are old, alternative guys that can still rock it.
*Friday: BEST DAY OF THE FESTIVAL! New Monsoon, Heavy Pets, Mike Gordon (from Phish), Government Mule (did covers of Love Me Do AND Dear Prudence...whooo), Railroad Earth, and Cornmeal (new blue grass favorite of mine now).
*Saturday: Started a cannonball contest at the pool to escape from the heat. Trent gets in good with the pool manager and gets to talk on the megaphone. Bob Weir and Rat Dog (from Grateful Dead) play that night. They are slow and boring. Kind of a let down. Keller Williams was Awesome!! ( Did a cover of Dig a Pony)
*Sunday: Keller Williams and Cornmeal tore it up. Lazy day at pool again.
Side note: The entire 4 days, us and our neighbors played a name game where you never address the person by their actual name. You have to give them a first and a last name (experienced players even throw in a middle name), and you can't use a name of someone you know or a famous person. For example I would say to Trent "hey Scott McPatterson pass me the sunscreen" and he would say "here you go Tina Parsons". Try it out. Loads of fun.
